On February 6, the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto hosted the Chinese New Year reception. More than 500 guests attended the event, including Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament Robert Oliphant, Member of Parliament Jean Yip, Former Senator Victor Oh, and other representatives from the three levels of Canadian government, Chinese enterprises, local Chinese communities and Chinese students.
In his speech, Consul General Luo Weidong reviewed China's new achievements in high-quality development and the positive momentum in the comprehensive turnaround of China-Canada relations over the past year. Looking ahead to the Year of the Horse, he stated that the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto will implement the important consensus reached by our leaders, further advance friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with China within our consular district, and steadily advance the China-Canada new strategic partnership.
Canadian political leaders and representatives from various sectors spoke highly of the development and achievements of China, noting that the two countries' leaders have opened new prospects for bilateral relations. They expressed readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation to bring tangible benefits to both countries and our peoples. The event was marked by a warm and cordial atmosphere, featuring Peking Opera, martial arts performances, folk customs display, and a themed photo exhibition.
