“Tracking Sharks Along New Jersey’s Coast”

Follow Professor Keith Dunton and his Monmouth University team as they tag sand tiger sharks and collect samples along the New Jersey coast, gathering valuable data for shark research and conservation.

The team conducts shark tagging and sampling under a Scientific Collecting Permit issued by NJDEP Fish & Wildlife. Intentionally fishing for prohibited shark species, including sand tiger sharks, is illegal in New Jersey.

If accidentally caught, these sharks must be released immediately without removing them from the water. For marine fishing regulations and information from NJDEP Fish & Wildlife's Marine Resources Administration, visit: https://dep.nj.gov/njfw/fishing/marine/
