The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be repaving the intersection of W Burnside Street & St. Clair Avenue starting as soon as this month and continuing into May.

This work will restore pavement where PBOT installed underground infrastructure as part of the West Burnside Street at St. Clair Avenue Pedestrian Crossing.

W Burnside Street and sidewalks will remain open during repaving. People driving should expect delays. This work is weather-contingent and may be rescheduled.

Once repaving is complete next month, PBOT will fully reopen the intersection including access to and from SW St. Clair Avenue.

Crosswalk completion expected this fall

PBOT expects to resume construction in August once we receive signal equipment. When the project is complete this fall, pedestrians will be able to cross W Burnside Street with a new signal.

There is only one domestic manufacturer of traffic signal mast arms that meet industry standards, resulting in extensive delays obtaining these supplies. PBOT's contractor ordered signal equipment early in the project to mitigate the delay.

Thank you for your patience as we work to complete this important project.
