BLM seeks public input on OHV grant proposals in central California

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -The Bureau of Land Management invites public and stakeholder input on off-highway vehicle (OHV) grant proposals for submission to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division. These grants support the Central California District's off-highway vehicle management activities, including visitor services, law enforcement, resource protection, planning and monitoring, and maintenance on BLM-managed public lands.

Public comments must be submitted to the appropriate field office by March 2.

The BLM will host a series of virtual meetings where personnel from each field office will provide updates on their OHV programs and share details about preliminary grant applications for the upcoming cycle. Participants can register for their preferred sessions through Microsoft Teams.

Thursday, Feb. 19 | 4-7 p.m.

Bakersfield Field Office

  • Public Meeting: 4-4:30 p.m.
  • Stakeholder Meeting: 4:30-5 p.m.

Bishop Field Office

  • Public Meeting: 5-5:30 p.m.
  • Stakeholder Meeting: 5:30-6 p.m.

Ukiah Field Office

  • Public Meeting: 6-6:30 p.m.
  • Stakeholder Meeting: 6:30-7 p.m.

Public and stakeholder feedback will help identify OHV recreation needs, improve trail connectivity, enhance safety, expand access, and create better experiences for all users.

Preliminary applications must be submitted to the OHMVR Division by March 2. Applications will be available for public review and comment at http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov from March 3-May 4, with instructions for submitting feedback.
