Speed Trailer Activated on Route 367 to Encourage Safer Driving

North St. Louis County - The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has deployed a speed trailer along Route 367 to remind drivers to slow down and follow posted speed limits. The device, which display a vehicle's real-time speed, is part of MoDOT's ongoing effort to reduce speeding-related crashes and improve safety for everyone who uses the corridor.

The speed trailer is on southbound Route 367 between Country Club & Haviland and will be at this location for approximately two weeks before it moves to another location along the corridor. Working with law enforcement, this effort will continue for the next couple of months.

Route 367 has experienced continued concerns with high speeds, prompting MoDOT to take additional steps to raise driver awareness. The speed trailers provide an immediate visual reminder, helping motorists self-correct before dangerous situations occur.

"Speed trailers are a simple but effective tool," said Tom Evers, MoDOT St. Louis District Engineer. "They help drivers recognize when they may be going faster than they realize, and that quick adjustment can prevent crashes and save lives."

Evers encourages drivers traveling on Route 367 to:

  • Pay attention to their speed as they approach the trailer displays
  • Follow all posted speed limits along the corridor
  • Allow extra travel time and avoid aggressive driving
  • Stay alert and avoid distractions behind the wheel

In addition to the speed trailer, MoDOT will also place digital message boards on southbound Route 367 south of I-270 and northbound Route 367 north of Jennings Station Rd. The message on the boards will remind drivers to adhere to the 45-mph speed limit.
