USDA Announces Appointments to the National Mango Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the appointment of six members to serve on the National Mango Board. These six appointees will serve three-year terms, beginning immediately, and ending Dec. 31, 2028.
Newly appointed members are:

  • District III Importer: Michael B. Warren, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
  • District III Importer: David Ponce, West Deptford, N.J.
  • District IV Importer: Keith Barnard, Oxnard, Calif.
  • Foreign Producer: Francisco Villegas, Sinaloa, Mexico
  • Foreign Producer: Kyra Müller-Gelineck, Guayaquil, Ecuador
  • Foreign Producer: Edwin Rene Zaparolli Torres, Guatemala City, Guatemala

The National Mango Board has 18 members, including eight importers, seven foreign producers, two domestic producers, and one first handler. Members can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Since 1966, Congress has authorized the development of industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool their resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. AMS provides oversight of 21 boards, paid for by industry assessments, which helps ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.
