MONTGOMERY COUNTY ISSUES
CODE RED AIR QUALITY FOR JULY 16, 2026
Montgomery County has declared a statewide Code Red Air Quality Action Day for particulate matter (PM2.5) for Thursday, July 16, 2026. Wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota has entered Pennsylvania's southern counties, creating Code Red concentrations of PM2.5.
Code Red means air quality is unhealthy for everyone. Sensitive groups (children, older adults, and those with heart or lung conditions) should keep outdoor activities short and avoid long or strenuous outdoor activities. Everyone else can reduce their exposure by shortening the amount of time that they are active outdoors, by choosing less strenuous activities (for example, walking instead of running), and taking more frequent breaks.
