City Council recognizes Parks and Recreation, EMS employees for life-saving efforts

Person who received life-saving care signed the McKinney Fire Department's cardiac arrest survivor's board

McKINNEY, Texas (Oct. 17, 2024)-Four Parks and Recreation employees and members of the McKinney Fire Department were recognized at this week's City Council meeting for their life-saving efforts at the Senior Recreation Center.

On June 27, a long-time center member, Lou Conner, collapsed during an exercise class. Pool managers Savanah Chavarria and Jaden Dawes assessed Conner's condition. At the same time, Cianna Alliot, the Aquatics Coordinator, and Griffin White, the Aquatics Supervisor, started CPR and delivered a shock using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). They continued with six rounds of CPR until EMS personnel from the McKinney Fire Department arrived.

As part of the ceremony, Conner signed the McKinney Fire Department's Cardiac Arrest Survivor's board. This tradition honors cardiac arrest survivors and recognizes the role of first responders and community members who helped make survival possible.
