HARRISBURG - Ready to begin his freshmen term representing the 56th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Rep. Brian Rasel (R-Westmoreland) took the oath of office Tuesday during the first day of the 2025-26 Legislative Session.
"Serving the communities in western Westmoreland County in this way is far and away one of the highest honors in my life," Rasel said. "But the celebration will not last long because the General Assembly has some serious work to do."
A lifelong resident of western Pennsylvania, Rasel served as staff member for his predecessor, retired Rep. George Dunbar. He is well known throughout the community as he is a member of the Penn Area Library Board and has been a part of the Trafford Community Library Board.
"My top priority will be to convey the voices of the people that call this region home," said Rasel. "In hearing their concerns, they want no-nonsense solutions to real problems while keeping government spending as low as possible and protecting our constitutional rights. This is the criteria that I will bring to every action I take."
The 56th Legislative District includes the boroughs of Irwin, Manor, North Irwin, Penn and Trafford; Penn and North Huntingdon townships; and the City of Jeannette.
