Buffalo, NY - Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon announced today the City of Buffalo is going Blue for the Bills this weekend to mark the start of the Buffalo Bills playoffs run. From Thursday, January 9th through Monday, January 13th, Buffalo City Hall will be lit Blue from dusk to dawn.
"We are so proud of our Buffalo Bills and want to send a strong message of support to the world that we are behind our hometown team and ready for the playoffs to begin in Western New York," said Buffalo Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon. "I invite members of the Buffalo Landmark Illumination Team to join us in this special Blue for the Bills Weekend, as well as all other historic landmarks and structures throughout Buffalo and Western New York."
In celebration of the Buffalo Bills and the team's AFC East Division Championship for a franchise-record fifth consecutive season, three huge Bills banners now hang from the front of Buffalo City Hall. Throughout the Bills season and under Mayor Scanlon's direction, Team City Hall celebrated the Bills success by lighting the top of City Hall in Blue and Red, in advance of, and on each game day. Additionally, Team City Hall celebrated the Bills each week since the start of the season by wearing Bills attire in advance of each home game. A Bills banner also hangs in the lobby of Buffalo City Hall in recognition of the Buffalo Bills and how much they mean to the Buffalo community.
Mayor Scanlon added, "We're looking forward to a great Wildcard Playoff weekend in the City of Buffalo and Western New York, and I am asking Bills fans to continue to show their hometown pride by cheering loudly for our team but celebrating safely."
