Peoria Man Sentenced to Prison for 2025 Robbery

January 9, 2026, Peoria, IL - Anthony D. Morris, 25, was sentenced to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections today after forcing himself inside an apartment last year with a gun and robbing one of the occupants. Morris pleaded guilty to Aggravated Robbery in November 2025.

During the hearing, Assistant State's Attorney Kristin Alferink requested the maximum sentence of 12 years under the plea agreement, citing the defendant Morris's criminal history, which includes multiple burglaries. After hearing the defense's arguments, the court imposed a shorter sentence.

On February 14, 2025, police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Lexington Hills Apartment Complex. The victims reported hearing a knock on their door, and when they opened it, they were met by two men, one armed with a gun. The man with the gun, identified as Morris, pushed the door open and forced himself inside. He then held a gun to the head of one of the occupants and demanded the victim's phone, car keys, credit cards, and jacket. The gun was never recovered.

The second man was later identified as Haywood Drummond, who pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery in September 2025 and was sentenced to 6.5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
