ATLANTA - State Representative Gerald Greene (R-Cuthbert), chairman of the House State Properties Committee, applauds Governor Brian Kemp's signing of House Bill 1199, which will temporarily suspend Georgia's excise tax on motor fuel for 60 days.
"I was proud to vote yes on House Bill 1199 to help bring much-needed relief to Georgia's hardworking families, especially our farmers in Southwest Georgia," said Chairman Greene. "It is no secret that every day Georgians are feeling the added financial strain at the pump, and this legislation would help to reduce some of that pressure, while also supporting our state's economy. I was proud to join my House colleagues and Governor Kemp as he signed the legislation into law."
Additionally, the legislation will update Georgia's tax code to align with recent changes to the federal Internal Revenue Code and establish a $100 million annual cap on the state's low-income housing tax credit for years 2026 through 2028.
