Join Urban Forestry at Tree Summit

Tree Summit 2026 is just around the corner! Join us on Saturday April 11, 2026, from 9am-noon at Mt Scott Community Center (5530 SE 72nd Ave) for a morning of engaging presentations about urban heat, tree canopy, and environmental justice.

Tree Summit 2026 highlights:

Get an update on what's new at PP&R Urban Forestry - learn about the Portland Urban Forest Plan, Pest and Pathogen Response, Tree Giveaway Programs, Private Tree care and more.

Here are the presentations for the day:

  • J'reyesha Brannon will present "Canopy of Stories: Pairing Climate Data with Community Voice."
  • Axcelle Campana will share stories and research on environmental justice and equity and practical application to urban forestry stewardship and community engagement.
  • Gena Gastaldi will present on the Trees in the Curb Zone Pilot project, a collaborative effort between PBOT and Urban forestry to increase planting space along streets lacking space for street trees.

You won't want to miss the big reveal of how one of Portland's historically significant trees - Heritage Tree #1 - is living on after it's removal in 2024.

Enjoy light refreshments during a social hour and meet community groups working to expand our urban canopy. Tabling partners include Friends of Trees, Multnomah County Library, Portland Fruit Tree Project, Oregon Department of Forestry's Urban and Community Forestry, and the Shade Equity Coalition.
