Boise State University's BroncoLearn has released a new course, "AI Travel Tools for Adults and Seniors," created by Margaret Sass, a lecturer in the School for the Digital Future.
This course helps seniors and their caregivers feel more confident using technology when traveling. Designed to be approachable and supportive, it offers practical strategies for using artificial intelligence to travel safer, smoother and with more enjoyment.
"I know that for many, the idea of using artificial intelligence might feel overwhelming at first," Sass said. "This guide is designed to help seniors and adults find ways to travel safer and smoother, while encouraging them to explore the world with curiosity and joy."
The course is accompanied by a free Pressbook, which provides additional tools and insights for using AI on the go.
The course content was thoughtfully designed to be engaging and accessible thanks to the creative collaboration of Kalyn Mitchell, a master's student of educational technology at Boise State University.
"I've been working as an instructional designer for BroncoLearn since 2023, and I truly enjoy the process of creating and designing," Mitchell said. "It's incredibly rewarding to know that the courses I help build are making a real difference and helping learners."
Together, Sass and Mitchell have crafted an experience that invites seniors to explore how AI can assist with travel planning, translation, safety and communication making travel not just possible, but more enjoyable and worry-free.
