DGA Statement on Ryan Fazio and Connecticut’s General Election

DGA Statement on Ryan Fazio and Connecticut's General Election

As the general election in Connecticut begins, DGA Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper released the following statement on Republican nominee Ryan Fazio:

"Ryan Fazio is too out-of-touch, too anti-choice, and too MAGA for Connecticut. Fazio called Roe v Wade 'offensive', has voted with gun lobbyists over public safety, opposed much-needed investment in public schools, and opposed efforts to lower the cost of health care while rejecting tax cuts for parents. A Fazio administration would mean worse public schools, higher taxes for parents, more guns on the streets, less reproductive freedom, and a rubber stamp for Donald Trump. Ryan Fazio is too extreme for Connecticut - and that is why we are confident that Governor Lamont will be re-elected this fall."

As Ryan Fazio heads into the general election, here are 5 things you should know about his MAGA record:

  1. Fazio called Roe v. Wade "offensive," voted against protecting access to abortion, and during his past campaigns was endorsed by a group that wants to make abortion illegal.
  2. Fazio voted against investing in public education and against tax cuts for parents.
  3. Fazio opposed legislation to keep health care premiums low, after Trump's budget law dramatically raised them.
  4. Fazio has called commonsense gun legislation "unreasonable" and called gun safety legislation that was passed after the Sandy Hook massacre "beyond the pale."
  5. Fazio said he "would love" Trump's endorsement and voted to let federal agents raid schools, hospitals, and houses of worship.
