Walker receives the NAIC Robert Dineen Award for outstanding service

Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Deputy Commissioner Jamie Walker won this year's Robert Dineen Award, the highest honor for a state regulator bestowed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

NAIC President Jon Godfread said, "Walker's career reflects remarkable growth, dedication, and leadership in financial regulation. Beginning as an examiner trainee in 2000, she has become a nationally and internationally respected authority in the field."

Walker's roles at TDI progressed from examiner trainee to assistant chief examiner in the Examinations Section, associate commissioner of the Licensing Services Section, and assistant deputy commissioner of the Financial Regulation Division. Walker was named the deputy commissioner of Financial Regulation in 2018.

"For over two decades, Jamie has been a dedicated and forward-thinking regulator whose commitment to excellence has consistently elevated the standards of insurance regulation," said TDI Commissioner Cassie Brown. "Her leadership, expertise, and collaborative spirit make her exceptionally deserving of this prestigious recognition."

Walker is the chair of the Accounting Practices and Procedures Task Force, a member of the Statutory Accounting Principles Working Group, Reinsurance Task Force, Capital Adequacy Task Force, Financial Stability Task Force, and Group Capital Calculation Working Group.

As chair of the Group Solvency Issues Working Group, Walker was instrumental in helping create the NAIC's "Best Practices in Reviewing Complex Ownership Structures," a regulator resource.

"The guidance is essential to ensure accurate identification of insurance company ultimate controlling persons and promoting greater consistency across the states," Brown said.
