Media Statement East-West Rail Corridor Flood Impact – Network Update

Australian Rail Track Corporation is fully mobilised in response to flooding near Port Augusta in South Australia with crews on the ground and recovery works actively underway.

Materials and specialised equipment are on site to support crews working around the clock to restore the corridor safely and efficiently.

While recovery works continue, the East West corridor remains closed and all rail services suspended.

A further major rainfall event is anticipated to impact similar areas of the network from Friday through to Sunday which cumulatively could deliver between 150mm and 250mm of rain across the weekend.

A return to service is anticipated for the coming weekend, however the forecast major rain event has the potential to impact recovery works and reopening timeframes.

ARTC continues to maintain regular communication with customers and all impacted stakeholders.
