New reporting reveals that JD Vance is coming out of hiding since the beginning of the war in Iran to embark on a fundraising tour for the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections this November. Supporters have been asked to pay $250,000 to co-host each event or spend $100,000 to attend.
One of the fundraisers Vance is headlining is hosted by Rockbridge Network, a secretive conservative donor group he co-founded in 2019.
As Americans express outrage and frustration with Donald Trump and Vance's war with Iran and their continued focus on the wrong priorities, troll-in-chief Vance has been unusually quiet. Since the war began, Vance has refused to answer for his flip-flop on Trump's foreign affairs, after repeatedly campaigning as the "pro-peace ticket," and telling voters, "Our interest very much is in not going to war with Iran. It would be a huge distraction of resources. It would be massively expensive to our country." Now, Trump and the administration have refused to rule out putting boots on the ground.
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
"JD Vance - who normally spends his days trolling on social media - has been notably quiet since he and Donald Trump started a war in Iran. Now, he's coming out of hiding to rub shoulders with billionaires instead of explaining his shifting stance on war with Iran or doing anything to ease the burdens of everyday Americans. Republicans are in trouble in the midterms - and it's because of the unpopular Trump-Vance agenda that's left everyday Americans in the dust."
A recent poll found that a majority of Americans do not support the war in Iran. At the same time, Trump's approval rating on the economy has hit a record low of 35% as Americans continue to say that the economy is their top concern and the war drives gas prices higher, which the vast majority of voters are concerned about.
