Public hearing regarding human services needs in Bellevue

The Bellevue Human Services Commission will hold a public hearing on housing and human services needs on Monday, Oct. 20, 6 p.m., at City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE.

The human services division of the Parks & Community Services Department supports thriving communities by funding key services, principally for low- and moderate-income people, to address disparities that often exist for Bellevue community members at these income levels. The services include access to food and basic needs, shelter services and homelessness prevention, financial assistance, behavioral health services, childcare and early learning services, and support for marginalized community members including youth, older adults and those with disabilities.

The information gathered at the hearing, along with other findings based on community outreach, will inform the commission's funding recommendations to the City Council and the development of the 2026 Community Development Block Grant annual action plan.

The city is developing its draft 2026 plan according to the federal requirement to adopt a citizen participation plan (24 CFR 91.105). The CDBG action plan outlines the proposed use of potential 2026 funds awarded by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development and will be posted for public comment for 30 days following the Oct. 20 hearing.

The hearing, which is accessible both online and in person, will provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the human services needs of the Bellevue community, along with funding recommendations for the 2026 CDBG program year. The 2026 CDBG funding allocations are contingent on the city receiving its 2026 annual formula allocation from HUD.
