Deluzio Celebrates $3.4 Million Federal Grant for Early Child Education & Family Support

CARNEGIE, PA - Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) celebrated the award of $3,398,648 in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services funds to the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center. This grant will support the Center's Early Head Start program and Child Care Partnershipsin Indiana Township and other locations. The program provides comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income pregnant women and families with children up three years old, with a focus on promoting school readiness and nutrition.

"Early childhood education is key to kids succeeding later in life. But so many hardworking families struggle to find high-quality childcare that doesn't break the bank," said Congressman Deluzio. "I'm proud to announce $3.4 million to the Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center for their Early Head Start Program. This investment will help kids and boost our economy by providing more parents with childcare they can depend on."

Congressman Deluzio is a dad to four kids and brings this perspective to his work in Congress. A member of the Congressional Dads Caucus, he has previously announced federal funding for early learningand childcare programs like Head Start in his district, as well as hosted several eventshighlighting top issues facing parents today.

The Trump Administration's efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, courts are considering or have paused many of these freezes. However, Congressman Deluzio will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure this congressionally-authorized funding continues going to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. If you are the recipient of a federal grant and have been notified that this funding is no longer available to you or are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, please share your concerns with Congressman Deluzio's office at [email protected].
