Police Arrest Auto Thief Recover Collectibles and Narcotics

Officers cruising around Georgetown found a person sitting in a stolen car and recovered drugs and comic books Wednesday morning.

An officer driving along Airport Way S near S Hardy Street spotted a Hyundai Elantra that appeared to be stolen parked nearby. The officer began investigating and found a 53-year-old man sitting in the driver's seat. The man said he borrowed the car from a "friend" two months ago, but the car had been reported stolen less than 24 hours earlier.

Officers searched the car and found cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl as well as presumably stolen comics (a graded and signed copy of Classic X-Men #1!!!!) and basketball cards.

Police arrested and booked the man into King County Jail for investigation of possession of narcotics with the intent to sell and possession of a stolen vehicle.

If you know who may own the comic books, please reach out to police and reference case number 2024-294745.
