GRAY BACKS EFFORTS TO SUPPORT CENTRAL VALLEY LAW ENFORCEMENT DURING NATIONAL POLICE WEEK

During National Police Week, Congressman Adam Gray (CA-13) backed several bipartisan efforts to stand with Central Valley law enforcement and ensure they have the resources and support they need to keep our communities safe.

"During National Police Week, we recognize the service and sacrifice of the men and women in law enforcement across the Central Valley and the country," said Congressman Adam Gray. "I voted for bipartisan legislation to provide additional tools, resources, and support to help officers keep our communities safe."

On the House floor, Congressman Gray voted for several bills that will help provide greater transparency to the bail system, reform the court-appointed monitor system, and keep violent offenders off the streets.

He also voted for a congressional resolution expressing support for law enforcement officers (H.Con.Res 96) and a congressional resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty (H.Res.1252).

In addition, Congressman Gray joined members of the Blue Dog Coalition in endorsing three bipartisan bills:

  • Protect and Serve Act of 2025 - This legislation creates federal penalties for anyone who targets law enforcement officers and willfully harms them in the execution of a crime.
  • HELPER Act of 2025 - This bipartisan legislation establishes a new home loan program to make homeownership more accessible by eliminating some of the requirements for first-time homebuyers.
  • Invest to Protect Act of 2025 - This bipartisan legislation makes targeted investments in small and midsize police departments by providing funding for recruitment, retention, training, and officer support.

Last year, Congressman Gray introduced the bipartisan Combatting Fentanyl Poisonings Act. This bill would send millions of dollars in funding to our law enforcement officers to apprehend fentanyl dealers, educate youth on the dangers of fentanyl and provide protective equipment to keep officers safe in the field. He has also secured federal funding for local law enforcement, including nearly $2 million dollars in community project funding for the Modesto police department.
