State Housing Director Praises Governor's 'Road Ahead' Address
Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Amy Hovey released the following statement in response to Governor Gretchen Whitmer's 'Road Ahead' address today at the Detroit Auto Show:
"I'm grateful to MSHDA staff and our housing partners who have answered the call in working to add more resources, remove barriers, and build capacity to help us address our housing shortage," Hovey said. "We've had some of our most productive years ever, thanks to historic investments from the state government, the federal government, and new innovations and partnerships that have helped us bring down costs for renters and homebuyers in Michigan. Now it's time to build on this momentum by committing additional state funds to sustain and expand these vital programs."
Last year, we introduced groundbreaking initiatives such as the Tribal Nations Housing Development Assistance Program, MI Neighborhood, and the MSHDA Rate Relief Mortgage. These milestones were made possible through collaboration with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, our statewide and regional partners implementing the Statewide Housing Plan, and robust state and federal investments.
