Help shape the future of parks, trails, and open spaces in your community

Colorado Springs residents are invited to help shape the future of the city's parks, trails, open spaces, facilities, cultural services and programming by participating in a new citywide Vision Survey. Open now, the survey will help set long-term priorities for the Park System Master Plan, which guides decisions about parks, recreation, and cultural services for the next 10 to 15 years in Colorado Springs.

The Vision Survey follows the completion of the Park System Assessment, which focused on understanding current conditions and community needs across the park system. This next step shifts the focus from evaluating today's system to identifying what matters most going forward, including priorities related to park maintenance, safety and comfort, trails, access, programming, and future investments.

"This is an important transition from understanding where we are today to deciding where we want to go as a community," said Acting Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Kim King. "The Vision Survey gives residents a clear opportunity to help shape long-term priorities for parks, recreation, open space, and cultural services as Colorado Springs continues to grow. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to share their perspective and help guide the direction of the park system."

The Vision Survey asks residents about park use, safety and comfort, system priorities, recreation and cultural programming, and perspectives on funding and tradeoffs.

The survey is voluntary and takes approximately six to eight minutes to complete. Responses should reflect individual and household needs and priorities. The survey will remain open until midnight Friday, Feb. 13.

The updated Park System Master Plan will replace the City's 2014 plan and establish a long-term framework to guide decisions about parks, trails, open spaces, and recreation and cultural services as the community grows and changes. Results from the Vision Survey will directly inform the plan's long-range vision and priorities.
