In recent months, Algeria has introduced several changes to the country's trade facilitation procedures, and banking regulations, in addition to a reorganization of relevant trade ministries. On September 3, 2025, the National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign trade was abolished and replaced by two cabinet level ministries, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market, and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion. Amongst this reorganization, the government has also introduced several measures aimed at tightening administrative and banking regulations for the importation of goods into Algeria. This report aims to outline changes relevant to U.S. exporters.
