On January 26, 2022, a mother and her two teenage children were traveling northbound on Watt Avenue when she noticed a Subaru driving next to her at the same pace. She then heard a loud boom and windows in her vehicle shatter. The driver of the Subaru had fired two shotgun rounds into their vehicle before fleeing. When deputies attempted to pull Khamidkhodjaev over, he led them on a high-speed chase driving at speeds reaching 100 mph, running red lights and stop signs and driving into oncoming traffic before fleeing on foot. Deputies were able to apprehend Khamidkhodjae and hundreds of rounds of ammunition and gun parts were later found at his apartment.
