Portland City Council President Jamie Dunphy has introduced a resolution, scheduled for Council consideration on February 19, to establish a new policy committee structure. The updated system is designed to strengthen legislative work, increase public engagement, and improve oversight of City programs and services. This change underscores the Council's commitment to transparency, accountability, and community involvement in shaping Portland's future.

"We learned a lot in our first year as Council, and I was responsive to feedback about how we could better use our committee system to serve Portlanders. This new structure reflects that feedback and incorporates improvements to make it stronger. I look forward to implementing these changes and working together in our new structure," Council President Dunphy said.

Under the new structure, five standing committees will replace the eight current policy committees: Public Works, Housing and Permitting, City Life, Community and Public Safety and a Committee of the Whole.

The resolution will come before Council on February 19and if adopted, will begin meeting the week of March 30.

The committees' full schedules will be published after the resolution is adopted.
