Beginning of Russia-Myanmar talks
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr President, friends,
We are delighted to see you and to welcome you to Moscow.
Our relations have been developing for many decades. We established diplomatic relations more than 70 years ago.
During your visit in March, we signed a package of documents, and our two governments are hard at work to implement our agreements.
Today, we have an opportunity to compare notes and to review our progress in all these spheres.
We are delighted to see you. Welcome.
Acting President of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing (retranslated): Mr President,
I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to meet with me despite your packed schedule. I am also grateful to you for inviting me to take part in the Global Atomic Week.
I have recently visited Moscow and attended a parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory.
Our countries established diplomatic relations 77 years ago.
The Embassy of Myanmar has been built in Moscow to promote closer relations between our countries. We have also opened consulates general in St Petersburg and Novosibirsk. I would like to inform you about our plans to open a consulate general of Myanmar in Vladivostok in the near future.
Russia is a big country. If we look east and west, we will see that you have a vast territory, which is why we are opening Myanmar's consulates general to promote cooperation between our countries.
I would like to thank you once again for your warm welcome and for receiving me in the Kremlin.
Vladimir Putin: We are delighted to welcome you.
