WASHINGTON - Congressman Dale Strong, member of the Appropriations Committee, highlighted the Committee's passage of the Fiscal Year 2027 Energy and Water Development Funding Bill on Wednesday, emphasizing its strong investments in America's nuclear energy future, energy independence, and national security infrastructure.
"America's energy security is national security. At a time when adversaries like China and Russia are aggressively expanding their influence, this legislation puts America first by rebuilding and strengthening our electric grid, advancing next-generation nuclear technologies, and boosting domestic energy generation and capacity," said Congressman Dale Strong.
"This bill makes major investments into our national defense by strengthening our country's nuclear deterrent, modernizing our nuclear energy capabilities, and ensuring the United States remains the world leader in reliable, affordable, and secure energy production."
The bill fortifies national security by:
Modernizing the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile, improving production capabilities, and ensuring a safe, secure, and reliable deterrent to counter global threats.
Investing in America's inland and coastal waterways systems, ensuring the efficient and free flow of goods, commodities, and key national security assets.
Prohibiting the sale of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the Chinese Communist Party.
Restores American energy dominance and bolsters innovation by:
Advancing the Trump Administration's goal to quadruple nuclear energy capacity by 2050 and regain international dominance in the nuclear market.
Accelerating research, testing, and demonstration of advanced nuclear technologies to strengthen U.S. energy security, industrial competitiveness, and global leadership.
Protects American taxpayer dollars and the mandate of the people by:
Eliminating funds for the Department of Energy Biden-era Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations or Office of Energy Justice and Equity.
Prohibiting the Department of Energy from providing financial assistance to any foreign entity of concern.
Protecting 2nd Amendment rights to allow for the lawful carry of firearms on Corps of Engineers land.
Preventing costly regulatory mandates on federal buildings that would require the use of unreliable energy sources at taxpayer expense.
