Join us as we celebrate the bond between scouts and parks. Attending these programs will complete the requirements for the Discover Patch and Explore Pin as part of our Hoosier Quest program!
Saturday, September 13th
9am Lakeside Hike: Some of the most unique animals live along the waters edge! Join us for this moderate hike of trail 5 where we look for birds, fish, and everything in between along the shore of Spring Mill Lake. 1 mile.
10am to 4pm Spring Mill Volunteers: Taking ownership of something and volunteering your time to help is one of the most genuine ways to show your care. Meet at the Lakeview Activity center and pick up a volunteer project from the Naturalist. Different projects are available for different skillsets. Driving to other locations in the park may be involved.
11am Food in the Forest: Meet at the Lakeview Activity for a presentation on some easily recognized forgeable foods!
1pm Cool Cool Coloring: Beat the afternoon heat and make some art at the Lakeview Activity Center. Draw, paint, or color a picture of your experience in your Indiana State Parks.
6pm Campfire Basics: Join the Naturalist at the amphitheater in the campground as we learn how to start our own campfire!
8pm Stars Without Number: Join the Naturalist at the Sycamore Shelter as we look up, as so many have before us, and share the stories we see in the stars. Sunday, September 14th
10am Bug Catching Contest: Meet at the Lakeview Activity Center to compete in our 30-minute Bug Catching Contest! Nets and cans are available while supplies last, bring your own if you have them. First, Second, and Third place prizes will be awarded. Bugs will be judged on size, rarity, difficulty of catch, presentation, and uniqueness.
2pm Grissom Memorial Guided Tour: Join us as we learn about a man bound for the Moon. See additional artifacts not on public display!
