Winter Storm Watch Issued for North Georgia

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of North Georgia from 7 AM Friday to 7 AM Saturday. Forecasters anticipate significant snow, sleet, and freezing rain, resulting in hazardous travel conditions starting early Friday morning and continuing through Saturday. Dangerous conditions are expected throughout this period, with the Friday morning commute especially impacted. Non-essential travel is strongly discouraged.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Hazardous Travel: Prolonged periods of snow and ice are likely across North Georgia, making travel dangerous. Limit travel as much as possible during this time.

  • Power Outages: Ice accumulation and downed trees may lead to power outages. Be proactive by charging portable chargers and electronic devices in advance to stay connected.

  • Prepare Supplies: Stock up on essentials such as groceries, water, and snacks before Friday morning to avoid last-minute trips.

The City of Alpharetta is fully prepared to respond to the storm. Public Works crews have plows and salt trucks ready to deploy, staffing plans are in place, and the City's Emergency Operations Center will open early Friday morning to monitor conditions and adjust as needed.

Stay Informed and Safe

Winter weather resources are available on the City's website WINTER WEATHER PAGE, including details on road treatment prioritization, how to report power outages, and information about downed trees blocking public roads.
