Gov. Evers Appoints Corey Dassow as Taylor County Sheriff
MADISON - Gov. Tony Evers announced the appointment of Corey Dassow as Taylor County Sheriff. The appointment fills a vacancy created by Sheriff Larry Woebbeking's resignation. Dassow will complete the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2027.

"Corey Dassow has served his community as a law enforcement officer for nearly two decades," said Gov. Evers. "His wealth of experience and dedication to Taylor County will serve him well as the new sheriff."

Dassow is the current chief deputy in the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, a position he has held since 2019. Previously, he served as a patrol deputy and a jailer/dispatcher, dedicating his entire 18-year law enforcement career to Taylor County.

"Corey Dassow has been an asset for Taylor County, and I look forward to working with him in his new role as sheriff," said Taylor County District Attorney Kristi Tlusty. "Corey is always willing to listen, and he has been responsive, professional, and respectful to my office. His years of experience with the Taylor County Sheriff's Department and his knowledge of the department ensure that this transition will be seamless."

Dassow is a lifelong resident of Taylor County and holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Chippewa Valley Technical College. Since April 2022, he has been a member of the Medford Area Public School District School Board.

"I am honored to accept Gov. Evers' appointment as the next sheriff of Taylor County," said Dassow. "The support and encouragement from my family, friends, colleagues, and the community have been overwhelming, and I am extremely grateful to each one of them. As I look forward to continuing to serve Taylor County with the highest ethical and moral standards, my commitment is to approach this position with a dedication to continuous improvement and a willingness to learn from the men and women currently within the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, along with other community leaders. I am committed to treating the people of Taylor County how I would want to be treated: with respect, fairness, and compassion."
