FLORENCE, AZ - The Pinal County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) Reentry Services Division has been selected as a Reentry Mentor Site under the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP)-a national initiative recognizing exceptional, data-driven reentry programs that support individuals transitioning from incarceration back into their communities.
The AGAVE Program, led by Justice Services Administrator Teresa Fuller, was chosen following a rigorous national review process that included a written application, interviews, and an on-site visit. The program stood out for its trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach, strong peer mentorship model, and partnerships with community service providers.
"This recognition reflects the dedication and innovation of our reentry services program," said Sheriff Ross Teeple. "Our team is changing lives every day by helping people rebuild and successfully reintegrate into society."
Rulo Strategies, which oversees the COSSUP Mentor Program, commended PCSO for its data-driven practices-including the Pinal County Reentry Needs Assessment (FY2023), the Reentry Implementation Report (FY2024), and the achievement of Trauma-Informed Certification in partnership with the Pinal County Attorney's Office and the Sheriff's Office.
As a national Reentry Mentor Site, PCSO will serve as a learning resource for agencies across the country, hosting visiting jurisdictions for tours, training sessions, and collaborative discussions focused on reentry strategies and sustainable programming.
