by Public Relations | January 06, 2025

LATROBE, PA - Saint Vincent College graduates will have unique access to scholarships and fast-tracked admission to the Pepperdine University School of Public Policy through a new partnership.

The agreement bridges an East Coast college and a West Coast university, uniting a pair of faith-based institutions that share a similar vision and mission. The undergraduate public policy program at Saint Vincent and the graduate program at Pepperdine have a liberal arts curriculum that balances a rigorous study of philosophy and history with the latest skills of quantitative economics and policy analysis.

"This collaboration reflects our institutions' shared commitment to academic excellence, ethical leadership and the cultivation of civic responsibility," said Father Paul Taylor, O.S.B., C'87, S'91, president of Saint Vincent College. "At Saint Vincent, we strive to prepare our students to lead lives of purpose and service. This partnership with Pepperdine will empower our students to make a profound and lasting impact on their communities and the world. We look forward to the success stories that will emerge from this agreement."

Per the agreement, Saint Vincent students can qualify for one of two tiers, depending on grade-point average requirements:

Tier One-Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.8 and higher:
  • Minimum 75% of tuition scholarship
  • Waiver of the standardized test score admission requirement
  • Waiver of the ethical/moral dilemma essay admission requirement
  • One letter of recommendation (academic reference) is required
  • Automatic acceptance into the Policy Scholars Program in Washington, D.C., for the summer term immediately preceding the first term of enrollment
Tier Two-Applicants with an undergraduate GPA between 3.5 and 3.799:
  • Minimum 50% of tuition scholarship
  • Waiver of the standardized test score admission requirement
  • Waiver of the ethical/moral dilemma essay admission requirement
  • One letter of recommendation (academic reference) required

This opportunity is open to all Saint Vincent graduates, including those who recently graduated, and is available to students in all majors.

All applicants, regardless of tier-level, who are referred by Saint Vincent College are eligible for the transfer of six elective credits, pending review of program elements and based on criteria set forth in the Pepperdine School of Public Policy's academic catalog. All applicants also are eligible for early registration for the first term of enrollment.

Saint Vincent's undergraduate public policy program is designed to develop an understanding of the economic and political institutions, principles and processes involved in public policy decision-making. The curriculum combines courses in economics and politics to help foster the development of such skills and knowledge.

Based in Malibu, California, with a summer program in Washington, D.C., Pepperdine is one of America's few graduate public policy schools rooted in a Judeo-Christian understanding of servant leadership. Its Master of Public Policy program has specializations in applied economic policy, American policy and politics, international relations and national security, state and local policy, and public policy dispute resolution.
