Crowell & Moring Welcomes Tanaz Moghadam as Public Service Counsel

Washington - January 23, 2026: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Tanaz Moghadam as Public Service Counsel, further strengthening the firm's nationally recognized pro bono program.

Moghadam brings over a decade of experience in managing complex pro bono programs and advancing high-impact litigation on behalf of immigrants and detainees. Most recently, she served as Pro Bono Counsel at an AmLaw 20 Firm where she coordinated the firm's pro bono efforts in multiple offices and supported firmwide litigation, particularly in the voting rights and immigrants' rights spaces. Prior to that, she was Deputy Director of Programs for the Immigration Justice Campaign at the American Immigration Council, where she led initiatives to expand access justice within the immigration system, focusing on immigrants in detention. Moghadam started her career as a Skadden Fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union's Immigrants' Rights Project.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tanaz to the firm," said Tiana Russell, Crowell and Moring's public service partner. "Tanaz's expertise, experience and thoughtful leadership will be a tremendous asset for our firm and the communities we serve. Her arrival reflects Crowell's deep and continuing commitment to public service.

Crowell and Moring's pro bono program is a cornerstone of the firm's mission, engaging lawyers and staff across offices with a commitment to giving back to the communities around them. More than 30 years ago, Crowell was the first DC-based firm to elect a full-time public service counsel and to promote that counsel to full-time public service partner. The practice includes a broad range of matters, including children's rights/family law, immigration, reproductive rights, and criminal justice. Today, the firm's lawyers contribute more than 50,000 hours in pro bono legal services annually to low-income and underrepresented individuals and deserving nonprofits.

"I am delighted to join Crowell & Moring and to support a pro bono program that is ambitious and rooted in service," Moghadam said. "I plan to combine my experience with big law pro bono and immigrants' rights to leverage Crowell's powerful resources to further advocacy on behalf of populations in need."
