Montana PBS requires TV rescan for over-the-air Gallatin Valley viewers

BOZEMAN - A Montana PBS upgrade will improve over-the-air service in the Gallatin Valley once a transmitter located near Four Corners moves broadcast frequencies on Monday, Sept. 14.

The move will allow Montana PBS to improve signal quality and expand coverage for viewers who receive broadcasts using an over-the-air antenna. Following the transition, Montana PBS leaders strongly encourage viewers in Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley who watch over-the-air broadcasts to perform a rescan on their TVs to receive the best signal possible. After rescanning, most viewers will continue to find Montana PBS on channels 9.1 through 9.5.

Rescanning allows TVs to recognize updated broadcast frequencies. While menu options vary by manufacturer, viewers can generally complete a rescan by:

1. Pressing the menu button on their remotes
2. Opening the channel setup, channels or settings menu
3. Selecting antenna or tuner
4. Choosing auto scan, channel scan or rescan

If viewers experience difficulty after rescanning, Montana PBS recommends repositioning the TV antenna and running another channel scan. Additional information about rescanning is available from the Federal Communications Commission at https://www.fcc.gov/rescan.
