USM PENANG, 25 February 2026 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) continues the yearly tradition of holding a recording session of 'Takbir Raya' (reciting praises of Allah) by the university top management and USM religious officers, honouring the month of Ramadan.
The recording, which has become the norm every year, has gotten a great response this year with the involvement of approximately 40 top management personalities of various levels.
They comprised of members of the USM Board of Governors (LGU); the University Management Committee (JKPU); Deans; Directors of Service/Administrative Centres; Directors of HICoE/CoE; Directors of Academic/Research Centres; and Unit Coordinators/Heads.
The recording was conducted by personnel from the USM Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia (PTPM), and with the cooperation of USM religious officers, held at Masjid Al-Malik Khalid.
The programme is intended to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and further establish the sense of 'familial' relations among the campus community members, in addition to expressing religious and cultural values to welcome the upcoming 'Aidilfitri' celebrations.
The 'Takbir Raya' recording also symbolises the efforts of the university in maintaining a significant tradition in Islam, aside from fostering close relations between the top management and the campus community.
According to Director of Pusat Islam (Islamic Centre) USM, Ustaz Zayd Zhari who led the 'Takbir Raya' recitations, the recording not only upholds the teachings of Islam, but also serves as a medium to bring greater excitement towards 'Ramadan' and 'Aidilfitri' among the campus community.
The 'Takbir Raya' recording will be broadcast through the University's media channels and platforms as Aidilfitri approaches, reflecting the spirit of togetherness and honouring a tradition that continues to be preserved at USM.
