Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores | March 25, 2026 | Press Release
The Foreign Ministry, through its network of embassies and consulates, held commemorative and community outreach activities for International Women's Day, in support of consular protection, rights advocacy, and the well-being and empowerment of women and girls in Mexican communities abroad.
For the first time, the March 8 commemoration included dedicated legal guidance and assistance - consultations and information sessions - to broaden access to justice and give women the tools to defend their rights, particularly in situations of gender-based violence.
The activities were part of a broader effort to advance the VAIM policy and bring the Consular Protocol on Gender-Based Violence into effect, two instruments that seek to build a gender-responsive model of consular care centered on prevention, guidance, institutional coordination, and effective access to services for Mexican women and girls abroad.
The Foreign Ministry renews its commitment to consular protection, rights advocacy, and the promotion of safe, inclusive, violence-free environments for Mexican nationals in our communities abroad.
