A five-day residential 4-H camp in Southeast Alaska features outdoor activities and a day at the Southeast Alaska State Fair.

The camp, which is open to youths 11-18 years old, will be held July 20-24 at the Echo Ranch facility in Haines across from Rainbow Glacier. Campers will stay in rustic cabins and have opportunities to swim, hike, zipline, kayak, forage, fish and learn outdoor skills such as building shelters and starting and cooking on campfires.

Campers will also prepare artistic and culinary entries for the Southeast Alaska State Fair, where they will spend the day enjoying the exhibits and performers, helping with the recycling program and other activities.

The camp is a collaboration between 4-H and a network of trained, adult mentors, with support from local organizations and businesses.

Campers will leave Juneau by ferry early Monday, July 20, and return by ferry on Friday evening, July 24. The cost, including ferry, is $500. The cost without the ferry is $400. Register using the online form or by visiting https://bit.ly/AKexperience. The deadline to register is July 15. Register early to assure a spot.
