WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA-11) issued the following statement after Speaker Mike Johnson announced the five Republican members that will serve on the newly formed Select Subcommittee on January 6, a panel created under the Judiciary Committee which will conduct a thorough review of the security failures that occurred on January 6:
"Speaker Johnson's announcement of Reps. Griffith, Nehls, Higgins, and Hageman to our Select Subcommittee on January 6 reaffirms Republicans' commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law," said Chairman Loudermilk. "While Dems seem keen on playing political games and doubling down on the predetermined political narrative of Pelosi's former committee, Republicans will continue to pursue the facts in an objective manner no matter where they lead. The American people deserve a complete and accurate account of the security failures that occurred on January 6, so this level of security failure never happens again."
Subcommittee Members:
"I look forward to continuing the investigative work accomplished by the Oversight Subcommittee of House Administration during the 118th Congress," said Congressman Griffith. "Our investigations will seek to recover, document and publish all relevant materials and information. As a result, the American people and historians should be able to draw their own conclusions."
"I'm honored to be selected to serve on the Select Subcommittee on January 6," said Congressman Nehls. "I know firsthand what happened on January 6, and I'm looking forward to permanently setting the record straight and shining the light on what truly happened on January 6, 2021, the days leading up to January 6, and the days following. The American people deserve the truth and transparency about the security failures that occurred on January 6, and I look forward to providing them with answers and the truth that they rightfully deserve."
"I thank Speaker Johnson for the opportunity to serve on this important panel," said Congressman Higgins. "Thousands of families were torn apart by the Biden administration's weaponized response to the events of January 6 as their relatives rotted in DC jails without a trial. The Pelosi-Biden regime manipulated the facts and obscured the full truth from the American people. We will deliver transparency and accountability through our investigation."
"I welcome the appointment to the Select Subcommittee on January 6th," said Congresswoman Hageman. "The American people deserve to know exactly how the events of that day unfolded, and who, at every level, was responsible for the security breakdowns. Nancy Pelosi's committee used the incident for political grandstanding and spent more time coaching witnesses and falsifying evidence than they did engaging in a genuine search for truth."
