Leader Schumer Completes Tour Of All 62 New York Counties For A Record-Breaking 27th Time; Schumer Vows That The Devastating Impacts Of Trump’s High-Cost, Health Care-Cutting[...]

Columbia County, N.Y. - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) completed his record-breaking 27th annual tour of all 62 of New York's counties, concluding in Columbia County, while advancing legislation to support Upstate dairy farmers and strengthen school nutrition programs.

With his final stop today at a dairy farm in Upstate NY, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer completed his annual tour of all 62 New York State counties for a record 27th year in a row.

Schumer said the 62-county tour is central to how he does his job in the Senate, giving him firsthand insight into how President Trump's high-cost, health care-cutting agenda is affecting New Yorkers - from farmers and small businesses to families and seniors facing rising food, energy, and health care costs.

"The 62-county tour isn't about politics - it's about people. Listening to New Yorkers from Buffalo to Schoharie to Brooklyn is how I do my job better," said Leader Schumer. "Across the state, I saw the consequences of Trump's policies up close: higher grocery and energy costs driven by tariffs; Main Streets hurt by declining tourism from Canada; rural hospitals pushed to the brink by severe health care cuts; and families staring down skyrocketing health care premiums. Every county had a story of people struggling to afford the basics - and those voices drive my work in Washington."

Schumer said the experiences he heard throughout the tour will directly inform Senate Democrats' push to lower costs and protect health care for working families.

"Getting out of DC and listening to everyday New Yorkers isn't a novelty- it's a requirement of the job," Schumer continued. "You can't fight effectively for people if you don't listen to them. I carry what I hear in New York with me every day as we work to push back against Trump's cost-raising agenda and build a more affordable future for families."

This year Republicans have sold out American families to provide tax breaks and exemptions for special interests, giant corporations and the ultra-wealthy. Throughout the tour, Schumer met with small business owners along the Northern Border and in Western New York facing tariff-induced rising costs health care providers warning of premium spikes and service cuts, and families confronting mounting financial pressure-on food costs and home prices and energy bills-as Republican policies take hold.

Schumer said the tour remains essential to effective leadership in the Senate.

"No title in Washington matters more to me than being New York's senator," Schumer said. "And that will continue to guide my work - this year and every year."

This year on the tour, Schumer continued to fight to deliver for New Yorkers. The senator met with communities facing unprecedented struggles-from small businesses facing rising costs from tariffs across Western NY & the northern border to rural hospitals and families facing direct attacks on healthcare-to learn from and listen to them as he continues to fight for them in Washington.

"Now that the tour is done, it is time to start planning the next one!" Schumer concluded.
