Poland stands in solidarity with the United Kingdom as it imposes restrictive measures against three units of GRU (the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation), as well as several individuals linked to GRU.
Our position is expressed in the statements of the European Union and NATO.
The intensity of Russian cyberattacks in Poland and across Europe has been increasing in recent years, especially since the launch of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. We strongly condemn malicious cyber activities, which are contrary to the United Nations' framework of responsible state behaviour in cyberspace that all UN Member States have endorsed.
The threats faced by Poland and Europe are not limited to cyberspace. We are dealing with active sabotage operations, threats to critical infrastructure, GPS jamming, deliberate violation of our airspace, disinformation, and artificially-created migration flows. In response to threats from Russia, Poland is actively building digital resilience through the development of Cyber Defense Forces, international cooperation, education of the public and modernization of critical infrastructure.
