Nominate a Sustainability Hero

Dunwoody, GA - February 11, 2026 - The City of Dunwoody is now accepting nominations for the Sustainability Hero Awards, an annual program that celebrates individuals and organizations making meaningful contributions to a greener, more resilient community. Established in 2012 and presented by the Dunwoody Sustainability Committee, the awards highlight outstanding leadership, service, and innovation in sustainable practices.

"Sustainability heroes recognize the significant impact we all have on all the Earth's resources, including the air we breathe and water we consume. They take real action to responsibly reduce and mitigate those impacts," said Dunwoody Sustainability Committee Chair Anne Hicks. "We look forward to recognizing those individuals and businesses who make a real difference in protecting our local environment."

Nominations are open through March 4, 2026, and may be submitted by residents, local nonprofits, and area businesses using the online nomination form. Award recipients will be selected by the Sustainability Committee and announced in April.

Eligible nominees must either reside in the City of Dunwoody or, in the case of businesses, be licensed in the city or demonstrate clear ties to sustainability initiatives within Dunwoody. Last year's honorees were Donna Burt and Ark Coffeehaus, recognized for their leadership and commitment to environmental stewardship. You can read more about their efforts using this link.

The City of Dunwoody Sustainability Committee meets monthly and serves to encourage the city and the community to reduce its environmental impact by improving resource efficiency. Public education and outreach on sustainability are central to this mission.
