Keep Tyler Beautiful hosts Annual Tyler Recycles Day featuring Paint Recycling

Keep Tyler Beautiful and the City of Tyler Solid Waste Department invite residents to participate in Tyler Recycles Day on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Downtown Recycling Center, located at 418 N. Bois D'Arc Ave.

This year's event will feature a special Paint Recycling Collection, allowing Tyler residents to safely dispose of old or unused household paint. The paint collection site will be located across the railroad tracks from the Recycling Center in the parking lot at 350 N. Bois D'Arc Ave.

The guidelines for paint recycling are as follows:

  • Up to 25 gallons of paint per household may be dropped off.
  • Tyler residents only; proof of residency is required.
  • No business or commercial paint will be accepted.

"Tyler Recycles Day provides an easy and responsible way for residents to recycle everyday items, and this year, we're thrilled to bring back paint recycling as an added benefit," said Casey Williams, Keep Tyler Beautiful Coordinator. "Proper paint disposal protects our environment and helps keep our community clean."

In addition to paint, residents can bring electronics, cardboard, paper, plastic, and other recyclable materials to the Recycle Center. There are no fees for recycling items such as electronics.

Ark-La-Tex Shredding will be on-site, offering bulk document shredding, and Interstate Battery will collect used batteries for safe recycling.

Please note that fees still apply for items such as mattresses, sofas, and tires.
