Skate with the Pros at Jackie Renninger Park Day on June 6

The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) Parks and Recreation department invites residents to join professional skaters Kanten Russel and Brandon Turner for Jackie Renninger Park Day from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. This exciting day of skating and sharing at Jackie Renninger Park will include an all ages skate clinic, open skate, skate trick competition and meet and greet with the pros. There will also be an open house & BBQ where you can learn more about the Jackie Renninger Park Master Plan and share your input on the preliminary 35% design. Jackie Renninger Park Day Events:

12 p.m. - Open House & BBQ with CBJ, New Line Skateparks, PND Engineers, Corvus Design

Stop by for a burger and updates on preliminary park and skate park designs from the designers.

2 p.m. - Skate Clinic

All ages are invited to learn basic skills from visiting pro skaters, Kanten Russel & Brandon Turner. Kanten is the Director of Design for New Line Skateparks.

2:30 p.m. - Skate Jam

Drop in for an open skate session with the pros.

3:30 p.m. - Best Trick Competition

Show them what you've got!

4:30 to 6 p.m. - Meet & Greet

Hang out with Kanten & Brandon, bring home an autographed poster.

About the Jackie Renninger Park Master Plan

In 2023, structural issues and safety concerns at Pipeline Skate Park, shared by both park maintenance staff and park users, prompted the need for significant updates to Jackie Renninger Park, beginning with a master plan. The Jackie Renninger Park Master Plan was completed in February 2025 following more than a year of community engagement, including four public meetings and a community survey. The 35% design phase of the project is nearly complete and will be shared at the Open House on June 6. Following the 35% design phase, the project will be put on hold until future funding is secured.
