CITGO Champions Resilience and Community at the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America

HOUSTON , April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 21, 2025, a team of everyday athletes will push themselves to make their mark in history at the 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America with the support of CITGO Petroleum Corporation.

As the official fuel sponsor of the 129th Boston Marathon, CITGO is sponsoring a diverse team of runners that includes employees, branded marketers, first responders, educators, and representatives from three Kenmore Squarenonprofit organizations.

"When I think of the theme of this year's Boston Marathon, Meet the Moment, two things stand out: community and resilience," said Chris Kiesling, CITGO Assistant Vice President, Light Oils Operations and Marketing. Among the CITGO team members are Anna Pigmanand Dustin Cooper, firefighters with the Asheville, N.C., Fire Department. The firefighters were selected to recognize and thank the first responders who supported communities impacted by Hurricane Helene last fall.

Joining them at the starting line are representatives from three Kenmore Squarenonprofit organizations - Arts Resource Collaborative for Kids (ARCK), Fenway Alliance, and Fenway Cares - who will raise funds for their respective organizations. CITGO will match all donations to these organizations up to $2,500.

Beyond its team of runners, CITGO is promoting race-day excitement with three signature events:

• Fueling Good Runway, presented by CITGO: a designated area for runners to pass through as they depart Athletes' Village in Hopkinton.
• One Mileto Go Block Party : Now in its second year, this family-friendly celebration in Kenmore Square invites spectators to cheer on runners beneath the iconic CITGO sign.
• CITGO Road to Boston Fun Zone: a one-of-a-kind youth activation area at Fan Fest where kids and families can participate in hands-on activities that commemorate major milestones along the race route.
