HOUSTON , April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 21, 2025, a team of everyday athletes will push themselves to make their mark in history at the 129th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America with the support of CITGO Petroleum Corporation.
As the official fuel sponsor of the 129th Boston Marathon, CITGO is sponsoring a diverse team of runners that includes employees, branded marketers, first responders, educators, and representatives from three Kenmore Squarenonprofit organizations.
"When I think of the theme of this year's Boston Marathon, Meet the Moment, two things stand out: community and resilience," said Chris Kiesling, CITGO Assistant Vice President, Light Oils Operations and Marketing. "These qualities define not only the race itself but also the people who run it. It's an honor to sponsor a team that embodies this spirit."
Among the CITGO team members are Anna Pigmanand Dustin Cooper, firefighters with the Asheville, N.C., Fire Department. The firefighters were selected to recognize and thank the first responders who supported communities impacted by Hurricane Helene last fall.
Joining them at the starting line are representatives from three Kenmore Squarenonprofit organizations - Arts Resource Collaborative for Kids (ARCK), Fenway Alliance, and Fenway Cares - who will raise funds for their respective organizations. CITGO will match all donations to these organizations up to $2,500.
Beyond its team of runners, CITGO is promoting race-day excitement with three signature events:
"Whether it's through the athletes we support, the community initiatives we champion, or the iconic CITGO sign guiding runners through Kenmore Square, CITGO is fueling the journey and the celebration that make the Boston Marathon so special," said Kiesling.
