Congressman Dunn said, "Congratulations to Akshat Sharma, David Suo, and Alex Wang of Tallahassee for taking first place at this year's FL-02 Congressional App Challenge! Their app, entitled PillPOW, is designed to help seniors manage their medications by providing reminders and tracking dosages. As a physician, I have seen firsthand the harms of medication non-adherence and am inspired by these students' work to address a widespread, real-world challenge. Well done, and congratulations on this achievement!"
The Congressional App Challenge is the most prestigious prize in student computer science. It was created in 2013 to foster an appreciation for computer science and STEM. Every year, Members of Congress challenge students in their districts to create and submit their original apps for a chance to win. Winning apps are put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year.
