Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes - Federal disaster assistance is now available through FEMA to enrolled members of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes who had damage to a home, trailer, or other personal property caused by the severe winter storm and straight-line winds on December 17-18, 2025.
A Fort Peck/FEMA Assistance Center staffed by FEMA specialists will be open Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm June 29th through July 28th at the Wolf Point Community Center 515 6th Ave S. Wolf Point, MT 59201. (The center will be closed July 3rd.)
Enrolled tribal members, including homeowners and renters, with uninsured damage to their home or trailer, unmet disaster-related emergency needs, or property loss from the December storm may qualify for assistance including grants to help pay for temporary housing and essential home repairs as well as other disaster-related needs, such as replacement of damaged essential personal property and expenses, such as for transportation, moving and storage.
Recovery specialists from FEMA will be available to help people complete the application for disaster assistance and get information on additional resources including low-interest disaster loans. The type of assistance individuals may be eligible for is based on the damage and individual circumstances.
Applications to FEMA can also be started by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov or downloading the FEMA mobile app, For information call 406-200-7903 8:00 am to 4:30 pm MST.
You do not need insurance to apply but enrolled tribal members who have homeowners, renters, or flood insurance should file an insurance claim before applying for FEMA assistance. If a policy does not cover all disaster expenses, tribal members may be eligible for federal assistance which is usually a grant that does not have to be repaid. Only one FEMA application per household is needed and the following information will be requested:
Specialists on FEMA's assistance line or at the assistance center can answer questions about your application. Specialists at the assistance center can also scan or copy information or documents needed for your application.
Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are also available at the Assistance Center to provide program information and explain how to apply for SBA's low-interest disaster loans. These loans are offered to all homeowners and renters, business owners and private nonprofits within the Fort Peck Reservation effected by the Dec 17-18 disaster to help cover uninsured and underinsured property losses. If you are in Daniels, McCone, Richland, Roosevelt, Sheridan, and Valley Counties and you suffered economic impacts due to the disaster you may be eligible for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans.
