An historic Portsmouth100 photo from space is being captured at Portsmouth Armed Forces Day on Saturday 20 June - and everyone is invited to be part of it.
An Airbus satellite is passing over the event on Southsea Common and will capture a moment of Portsmouth history.
Visitors will form the Portsmouth100 logo in the main arena for the special aerial photo, as part of the year-long celebration of Portsmouth's 100 years as a city.
Timings:
11.30am - be there ready to take part
11.49am - photo taken - the exact moment the satellite will pass
Portsmouth City Council Leader Cllr Steve Pitt said:
"This is a real one-off opportunity to be part of Portsmouth's history. It's a photo that will be looked back on for years to come showing how we celebrated the 100th anniversary of our great city. One to tell future generations 'I was there!'
"And there's so much more happening on the day, including Spitfires and air displays which are always popular, as we celebrate our armed forces community heroes."
The free community day runs from 10am - 4pm on Southsea Common. BAE Systems is the headline sponsor of this year's Portsmouth Armed Forces Day, helping to put on a packed schedule of entertainment.
Air displays include a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight from two Spitfires in the afternoon of the event. Before that there's military parades, displays and vehicles including helicopters and motorbikes. The Royal Navy parachute jump is always popular, and there's live music, lots of stalls, a funfair, children's activities, and more.
No tickets needed, just show up and enjoy the free day.
