Webster to Continue Serving as Chair of Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation

Washington, D.C. -
Today, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) announced that Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, will serve as chair of the Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation for the 119 th Congress.

"Our subcommittee chairs for the 119th Congress have a strong track record of proven leadership, experience, and demonstrated legislative expertise," said Chairman Graves. "Five of our six subcommittee chairs are returning members of T&I's leadership team from the 118th Congress who heavily contributed to the Committee's success over the past two years, and I'm excited to add a new member to our lineup of subcommittee leaders. All six of our chairmen will play critical roles in our committee's agenda as we work to ensure a stronger, safer, and more efficient transportation and infrastructure network for our country."

"I thank Chairman Graves for the opportunity to once again serve as Chairman of the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation subcommittee," said Rep. Webster. "Our Coast Guard and maritime industries are not only vital to our nation's success, but also critical to our national security. From protecting the sovereignty of our waters, to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods, the work of this subcommittee impacts the lives of every American.

"Nearly every week, news outlets report on the brave actions of our Coast Guard men and women who have rescued a boater off Florida's coast, found a lost fisherman in the Pacific, or stopped illegal immigrants trying to access our border by sea. As Chairman, I will continue working to ensure our Coast Guard has the tools and resources needed to meet 21st century challenges, boosting the resilience of maritime industries, and building an economy that ensures America continues to lead on the global stage."
